After the show, I got to stand in line for what seemed like an eternity, to get him to sign the CD I bought. I was really nervous about meeting him, because I literally had no idea what to say. But as the line lead me closer and closer to him, I was running out of time.
I had heard the common idea that your favorite celebrity is actually nothing like what you expect. That's what I was most nervous about. I mean, part of Bo's humor is that he kind of acts like an arrogant prick on stage, so I had no idea what to expect in person. But I wanted to meet him really badly.
He. Was. So. NICE!!!
I got up to him with my CD. The cover of his new album is a picture of him on a black background, so I brought a silver sharpie. I went to hand it to him the same time he grabbed on off a table. He laughed that I came prepared lol. He asked me if I liked the show, which I thought was really cool. I don't know why, but I wasn't expecting that. I told him of course, and that I was a huge fan. Then I told him that sometimes when I get stuck while writing, I listen to his stuff. He asked what I wrote, so I told him about my interest in slam poetry. Then we talked about slam poetry for a good 3 or 4 minutes. Apparently, he's looking at doing a skit on a slam poetry parody. I'm excited, he has some really fun ideas.
Overall though, he was just really friendly! Like, he was genuinely interested in meeting all of his fans. I would also like to mention that he is EXTREMELY tall. He was sitting, I was standing, he was still easily a head taller than me.
I'm so glad I didn't chicken out, and I stood in line. It was so completely worth it.
Thank you Bo Burnham for an amazing show!
And yes, I still have to keep reminding myself that I ACTUALLY MET BO!
